This week has been all about getting pots turned around – bisqued and glazed. I will open the kiln tomorrow which I’m really looking forward to, as it has some pieces in which I haven’t had in stock for a while, such as, my large tapas dishes (seen at the back of the first photo).

Next week begins *potentially* my last BIG big making restock of this year (although I will continue doing little bits for projects here and there).

A really lovely break often seems to come with a b

A really lovely break often seems to come with a bit of a creative block, for me, anyway. Whilst in Portugal, I was feeling really positive about what was to come when back in the studio, and now that I am sat here, I am finding it difficult to see what comes next.

That being said, I also haven’t been well, so perhaps that isn’t helping! What remains, and what I always come back to, is my love for throwing, and so I know that when I sit at the wheel and start throwing again, things will find their place. I do have a long list of pots of throw (including teapots), starting next week, so I am looking forward to that. Now that the days are a little quieter, I can really get my head down into production.

Also, for everyone who has asked about lessons and potential bookings, a little timing error from before I went away has meant that I am not where I was hoping I would be with launching them but, I promise, they are in the works, and coming as soon as possible.

This is a classic picture of a potter and, although I don’t often stand at the entrance of my studio with a ware board of pots, you will often find me carrying one! Whether it be removing pots from the wheel onto a board, reorganising wet and dry work, or carrying a board from my shelves to my bench to be worked on, ware board are an essential part of a potters studio.

From tomorrow, I am officially on my holiday and so will be taking a little break from here, to *hopefully* zone out for a bit, and return with some enthusiasm, ready for another busy season.

The studio will be closed this week, and any orders placed from tomorrow will not be posted until I am back, on the 4th October. Thank you for all of the support.

These medium size jugs are a really lovely additio

These medium size jugs are a really lovely addition to the kitchen. They are an attractive size for milk, cream, gravy or other sauces.

Despite it never having crossed my mind before I entered the world of pottery, I am now often drawn to the practicality of a small jug without a handle. Handles on small things can sometimes get in the way and, these little jugs do not hold enough liquid inside to make them too heavy to hold without a handle, if that makes sense?

I often have people who struggle with dexterity coming into the studio and talk about the awkwardness of some handles, and how much easier it is to be able to just pick something up.

This being said, when not being used for culinary purposes, they stand great alone on a shelf, or stuffed with flowers and foliage!
